Underworld Update

It’s finally here, along with some other exciting changes as well. There are several levels to explore and each one looks unique. Build a stairway to start the journey downwards. Be careful not to get stranded.. stairways can only be destroyed from below. The beginning will be mostly open exploration and free of dangerous enemies, but beyond that beware. There are ways out on certain levels. The first underground level has dirt walls that can be broken apart – and structures work the same as the overworld. The levels below that have impervious walls and floors. You can build there too, but structures will decay after just 10 minutes. The lowest floor you reach is recorded so I may use it on the leaderboard or in announcements. See if you can safely get any gems – the amount of crystal rock doubles the deeper you go.

Experience decay is now being tested. If you are in the top players and have not logged on for 48 hours then you will lose a tiny percentage of experience every hour. This experience will only be taken from your highest level skill, which mostly hurts players who focus on just one skill to gain their levels. This solution is in place at least until I discuss my other plans with the community.

Gate blocking should now be a thing of the past. If someone builds a structure adjacent to a structure you own – and yours is older – then you can destroy the neighboring structure as if it was your own.

In addition to furniture and certain objects not decaying, walls and gates now have about 10x the HP! You shouldn’t have to worry about break-ins so much anymore – as long as you stay ahead of natural decay. This along with the new neighboring structure mechanism will allow for hotels and eventually shops and banks.

A number of bugs have been fixed which I wont list here. Networking code related to movement has been adjusted again to be even more forgiving for spotty connections hopefully, but we’ll see. I may have even more work to do there.

Update: Added a trading counter. A price can be set to purchase items over the counter. Will work when you are offline, and if there is no price you can use it to send items over the counter like mail (when parchment is in).

I have a lot of plans ahead: equipment forging with gems, item durability, parchment to write messages on, past character records, and more.
