Another update! Some bug fixes and balance changes.

So I wanted to get this update out pretty soon just to fix the chat console bug that some people were having in addition to the foreground sprites sometimes glitching. As I was working on it I remembered a bunch of other small changes I wanted to make so it turned into another fair sized client/server patch. In this update:

  • Chat scrolling fixed for some users.
  • Foreground sprite issues fixed.
  • Repair kit repairs a lot more now based on your skill level.
  • Several clothing sprites have been updated.
  • Tower damage gets a small boost (+3 damage).
  • Players get +2 armor to start out.
  • Wood sword damage reduced by 4.
  • Wild berry bushes can now be found growing around grassy areas.
  • Broadcast names now use the player’s name color. The default is white but Patreon supporters with the /color command can change this.
  • Experience is slightly reworked to remove a bonus for focusing on a narrow set of skills.
  • When players enter the game with the same IP as an existing player there will be a notice informing other players.
  • When mining, the chance to gain resources based on Pickaxe type is increased by 50%. Normal weapons don’t have as big an impact on this chance. Mining skill also increases this chance.
  • When crafting, your chance to get a +damage or +armor bonus is increased based on your crafting level.
  • When building destructible objects, they get a max HP bonus based on your construction skill level.
  • Hunting gives a decent damage bonus against NPCs, and the assassin skill also boosts damage slightly against players.
  • Smelting gives a chance to get extra ore.

There are plenty of other skill bonuses I haven’t talked about, I will try to add some of this information to the guide when I get a chance. I have more balance changes to make but I’ll save them for future updates.

I mentioned it in the forums and in game but I am working on adding item durability. Your weapons and armor will be able to ‘break’ after so much use which unequips them. They will keep their stats. After repairing them you can equip them again. There will be a warning when they get to low durability. Eventually I want to add the ability to customize your items as well, like adding +bonuses or naming your equipment.

Also looking into drag and drop functionality, since that seems to be a highly requested feature. I want to add treasure chests with random loot (for the underworld update) and also fishing. Okay now I can take a break.. for real this time, probably.
